Melissa v2.0 is my mission to change myself for the better, physically and emotionally. I started with the physical, by finally getting my medically necessary RNY gastric bypass weight loss surgery on December 15, 2011. I spent the first year depressed and having a bit of buyer’s remorse, which is not uncommon, but it all changed once I hit the 100lb lost mark. At that point (in October 2012), I realized that I was becoming a new person, not only because I had lost so much weight, but I was healthier, with more energy and a desire to really set personal goals that I should have set out to achieve ages ago.
First and foremost, I wanted to be a healthier and happier Mummy and wife. My son (aka little stuff) and my husband are the most important people in my world and my biggest supporters. A lot of my new health consciousness comes from wanting to be around for them for a long time. Secondly, once I get the weight off and am healthy enough to go back to work, I want to! I have been working from home for too long, especially now my son is in his last year of preschool. Its time for me to head back out into the real world. Thirdly, I am starting to feel like I have found a good place in my life. I still have good days and bad and I am far from perfect, but I have faith that this is all supposed to work out as it should and I am looking forward to the adventures ahead. Lastly, I want to document it all (hence the blog). This has already started to be such an amazing change for me and I am hoping that I can inspire at least one other person out there to do what they need to do to become a more improved version of themselves.
I hope you enjoy reading this as much as I am enjoying writing this and I am hoping for the continued support from my family and friends.
